Introducing: Arctic Dreams

We have a slightly surreal chat with Arctic Dreams...

Three man standing in front of an orange background. The band Arctic Dreams, as featured on It's Indie and we know it
Arctic Dreams

Would you guys please introduce yourselves and explain your role in the band?

Alex_Y: “My name is Alex_Y, I am the frontman, founder, sound producer and main сщьзщыук.”

Sydius: “I play guitar and spoil songs with useless guitar noodling solos”

Glam_Dickens: “Glam Dickens, bassist.”

Where did you guys meet and how did you form this band?

Alex_Y: “We met in St. Petersburg in 2009. Sydius is a native St. Petersburger, and me and Glam_dickens moved there that year. There was a common musical hangout where we all cooked together”

Sydius: “We met touring in another galaxy”

What kind of music do you make or would like to make in the future?

Alex_Y: “We call our style "arctic-dreams-metal" In fact, it's a rattle of traditional metal, classical music and electronic gothic styles.”

Sydius: “I’d like to make academic music that matters”

Glam_Dickens: “I think it is important to evolve and develop your own style”

What do you enjoy the most about the process of making music together?

Alex_Y: “The end product, namely the music.”

Sydius: “The process when it actually works out”

Glam_Dickens: “I did not participate in the creating process, I have just recorded bass for the prepared songs. But, I can say that creating process is one of the most interesting parts of the whole process.”

What are some of your favourite themes to explore through your music?

Alex_Y: “Oh, they're completely different. It could be a movie, a book, a computer game, or something completely abstract.”

Sydius: “Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens”

Glam_Dickens: “The music itself. It is interesting what melody or riff will follow and how they could complement each other, and so on. ”

Who are some artists that you love or who you'd say have had a huge influence on your work?

Alex_Y: “A lot of artists. In different styles. Metallica, Megadeth, Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth... etc”

Sydius: “Frank Zappa, I.S.Bach, Chick Corea”

Glam_Dickens: “Not on this work, but on me as a whole - it is KISS, at first. Then any artist, musician, genre or song I have ever seen or listened to has certainly influenced me”

Where can someone looking for your music, find it?

Alex_Y: “ We have a number of resources where our work can be viewed:

Sydius: “We’re all still looking for it…”

What's your favourite part about touring/ doing live performances?

Alex_Y: “Show, communication with the audience and its energy”

Sydius: “Having a relaxed schedule to visit museums and gyms and practice”

Glam_Dickens: “Travelling, learning band members in different situations, helping each other. And, first of all, it is people in other cities or even countries, the moment you get up on stage, pose, leave the stage, afterparty... everything.”

What kind of message would you like to give your fans, through your music?

Alex_Y: “We're creating our own meta universe where I think everyone will find what they want.”

Sydius: “C-F-G-C”

Where do you guys see yourselves in the future, or what are your future plans for the band?

Alex_Y: “In fact we don't plan ahead, life experience shows that it's useless. At the moment we are working on a new release and planning concerts.”

Sydius: “Inside a lovely handsome microchip”

Glam_Dickens: “I see me playing, this is what I am confident with. What band, what genre, where and when time will tell.”
