Asila are Hana (Vocals), Richard (Guitar), Adrian (Bass) and Taryn (Drums)
Where are you based?
We’re split across the world at the moment. Hana and Rich are in the USA, Adrian in the UK and Taryn in South Africa.
What genre would you describe yourself as?
Hard rock with soul influences
Who is your main inspiration?
That changes from member to member, but across the board it would be bands like Evanescence, Halestorm, Iron Maiden
What is your songwriting process (which bits come first)?
It always changes depending on the song. Sometimes it’s music first, sometimes lyrics first, sometimes just a rhythm. For our latest song, Hot Blooded Woman, it was lyrics first, since it’s all about the message.
What made you want to start in music?
Just hearing music and feeling it. Music helped all of us in a way, so we want to do the same for others.
What is on the horizon for you?
We’re working on finishing our album, Acid Rain. We’ve recently released a music video for Hot Blooded Woman.
Who would you most like to collaborate with (alive or dead)?
It would be interesting to see where Beethoven would have taken his music.
What is your ultimate goal?
Make a living of music, collaborate with awesome people and make cool stuff.
If you could cover any song, what would it be?
We don’t often do covers, but we’d love to do an Aerosmith song. Maybe Dream On.
Tea making: milk first or last?
Last! Anything else is blasphemy. Soon people will be saying they put the milk first in cereal. Chaos!
Tell us your funniest joke!
‘Wanting to make a living of music’. See above ;)
