The Interrogation areThom Turner (band leader, songwriter, guitar), James Kang (live vocalist), Ridge Bernosky (guitar), A.J. Piszcz (bass) and Nik Eason (drums), they hail from Vancouver, Canada.

What genre would you describe yourself as?

Pop Punk/Emo/Easycore

Who is your main inspiration?

That is hard to say but I guess you could say Coheed and Cambria is the biggest influence.  Combining prog rock and pop punk.

What is your songwriting process (which bits come first?)

For our current Ep “Posters on My Wall” that came out 9/25/20, the process was a lot faster than normal.  As the sole songwriter (Thom Turner) I just heard the majority of the song in my head for all 4 songs, to the point where I asked our recording engineer Kevin Billingslea, if I had ripped them off.  Luckily I hadn’t and here we are.  Its mostly just the melodies and grooves first.

What made you want to start in music?

I (Thom Turner) can’t remember a time where I didn’t want to be a musician.  My parents surrounded me with music from the moment I woke up.  If I had to pinpoint an incident though it would definitely be the “Johnny B Goode “ scene from Back to The Future.

What is on the horizon for you?

On September 25th we released our first EP “Posters on My Wall” on all platforms.  It was a long time coming and we are just blown away by the response so far.  We are also already in pre production for the next record and have some very special media also in the works.  Also, we are working with Greg Burt at Wavelink Agency to get us on the road as soon as it is possible!

Who would you most like to collaborate with (alive or dead)?

Obviously Claudio Sanchez would be a first pick.  After that definitely Peter Gabriel.  The writers that melded progressive musical composition and straight up rock/pop riffs and hooks.  These two are heroes for me.

What is your ultimate goal?

To make good art that connects with people on a visceral level through good story telling.   Our EP and even the band itself come from the music I wrote in the wake of the loss of my mother.  I wanted to tell my stories knowing that they were authentic and therefore could connect with others.  With that connection we hope to inspire and give hope to others.  It is as simple as that.

If you could cover any song, what would it be?

“Cold as Ice” by Foreigner.  Just one of the greatest hooks of all time!  When you add in the vocal harmonies and that guitar solo!!  I think that one is due an update!  It even has an outro Breakdown!

Tea making: milk first or last?

First of all that would depend on the tea we are talking about.  I am an Earl Grey BLACK person.  I would not pay money for a tea that I planned on having to mix things into it.   That said, if I were to add milk it would be  at the end and very sparing.

Tell us your funniest joke!

I’ll tell the one I told my future father in law on our first meeting.

What do you call a musician without a significant other?

It is really bad but that’s why I am not a comedian.
