three favourites make their return!

It's always great to see new music from some of our favourite artists and this week we bring you three amazing songs that we're sure you'll love!

Schyler Christine - Victim

Schyler Christine has been on our radar for several years and she's just released her new single, Victim. Teaming up with long-time friend of It's Indie, the genius Toronto-based producer a.n.g.e.l, Schyler delivers the ultra-catchy dancehall Victim, a song designed to inspire all those who have struggled through adversity and come out of the other side stronger than ever.

“I came to a point where I was just mad, really fed up. I wanted to change in a way I’ve never wanted to before. I was mad about what I wasn’t doing, about what I thought that I could do, what my head was telling me I couldn’t. But while Victim came from anger, it’s happy, too.”

Winifred from the Gran Jury comments: "We're all really proud to hear Schyler's new music, she certainly has matured vocally since we last heard from her and we can't wait for the full new EP. We have passed on our Granny advice on how to put on a coat though, that jacket will be no use in the snow."

Our rating: 9.6/10

Bianca Aristia "Only Wanted You"

Another artist we've been closely following is Germany based Bianca Aristia, and her new single Only Wanted You is another brilliant example of her R'n'B style that shows off her impressive vocal range.

Teaming up with producers RE:MIND, Only Wanted You is taken from her forthcoming album, due out next year. It tells of a relationship that was one-sided and toxic. It's filled with sensual rhodes and synth loops, while the vocals switch from soft and dreamy to powerful and defiant, showing the moment that the decision was reached to break free and move on.

Irene from the Gran Jury writes: "This is a change of direction from the music we've heard from Bianca in the past. She still has the sassy vocals but this song puts Bianca firmly in charge!"

Our rating: 9.4/10

Tony Goff and the Broken Colours "Take A Gamble"

Our final offering is the latest funky number from our friends Tony Goff & The Broken Colours, who you might remember dominated our Top 40 charts for a huge part of 2020 with their massive track Rearrange.

Take A Gamble is another song that has a powerful message behind it - never give in! As before, it's funky, its soulful and it's unforgettable. Driven along by the funky bassline and punctuated with those brass hits we came to know and love, the song is uplifting and catchy and has already become a firm favourite here at It's Indie Towers.

"The influences brought to this song are from artists such as Jamrioquai, Vulfpeck and Ripe. As we grow as musicians we have fallen into a more soulful indie vibe. This isn't our old sound. But over the pandemic we restructured and released our 2020 funk offering 'Rearrange'. Members changed, and so did the flow. This track is a taster of our forthcoming EP, full of indie soulful funk!" - Tony

Ivy from the Gran Jury comments: "I'm pretty sure I used to babysit for Tony and he was a cheeky little scamp! But it's great to hear the band have returned with Take A Gamble, it's probably my favourite track of theirs to date and I can't wait to hear the EP!"

Our rating: 9.7/10

It's been really difficult picking a favourite from these three tracks - it's like being asked to pick a favourite child! But for us, Take A Gamble from Tony Goff & The Broken Colours just edges it, and therefore win the prestigious Virtual Golden Werthers Original!
