Chaoseum are a four piece band from Switzerland, whose sound is somewhere between Metalcore and Nu-metal. They are CK Smile (vocals) Greg Turini (Drums) Loïc Duruz (Guitar) and Valery Veings (Guitar). We caught up with Valery and posed our hard-hitting questions!

Who is your main inspiration?

Korn, Slipknot, Trivium.

What is your songwriting process?

It’s very varied, but Loïc and CK write the mainpart. Sometimes we write the lyrics first and sometimes the music.

What made you want to start in music?

When I saw Iron Maiden, Live After Death on tv.

What is on the horizon for you?

A new album called “Second Life”with a release party in Switzerland on September 26th. Our European tour was postponed until Fall 2021 due to covid-19.

Who would you most like to collaborate with (alive or dead)?

A lot of people. I would like to write a song with Desmond Child, opening for Iron Maiden

and spend time with Steve Harris.

What is your ultimate goal?

I don’t know because I try to have a realistic goal and when one is done, I try another one a little bit higher again and again. I think it never ends.

If you could cover any song, what would it be?

“I Want Out” by Pat Benatar

Tea making: milk first or last?

Only tea, no milk, no sugar, sorry. When I was a child,I finished with a cloud of milk.

Tell us your funniest joke!

I don’t know if I can say this... but when I played for the first time in my favorite place in Switzerland, I was so happy and a little bit lost and I put my underpants in the wrong way. Yes,it’s possible ...
