Tell us about Emerra?
Emerra are: Fabian Horn (vocals, guitar), Max Lumer (drums), Stefan Paar (bass) and Timo Lebeck (guitar). We are a prog Alternative Metal band from the Düsseldorf/Mönchengladbach area in the western part of Germany.
Who is your main inspiration?
Actually, although it may sound cheesy, beside the bands and artists that we love we do inspire each other a lot. Being together in a room, making music, still is a magic thing.
How do your songs come together?
Until now we always started with either a Riff or a Beat. After that we created the whole instrumental, and the last part most of the times are the vocals. Maybe that’s because I see myself mainly as a guitarist and not as a singer.
What made you want to start in music?
Seeing Angus Young on Stage with AC/DC in front of 60.000 People blew my mind. It was on a DVD though, still it was enough to get me hyped.
What is on the horizon for you?
Due to Corona and the World being a weird place this year, we concentrated on writing our second EP this year. After finishing our debut EP "Monochrome" in November 2019, we already knew that we wanted to push things in a heavier direction instrumentally. On top of that, not being able to promote that music on stage and also not being able to really get rid of some of that frustration that’s due to being isolated and quarantined for so long has led this second EP to a much heavier state.
We don’t want to force anything onto our creativity, so we just went along with it and we are proud of the progress we’ve achieved so far. We just finished recording the Drums, and now the other parts will follow very soon.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
I’d love to collaborate with Jonny Hawkins of Nothing More. He’s such an inspiration for me, seeing him live and in the studio. This guy is what this music scene really needs. Unique & talented with an energy on stage that is just out of this world.
What is your ultimate goal?
Our ultimate goal I would say is to promote our music to as many like minded people in the world as possible. We believe that our music partly could be considered very niche, so we are happy for each and every soul that invests time into giving our music a chance and maybe even joining us on this journey.
If you could cover any song, what would it be?
Max just told me that he would love to cover Make Total Destroy by Periphery.
Tell us your funniest joke!
The way most governments and people are handling the covid crisis. Hahaha, sorry for that!
