Born in the Philippines and moving to the United States as a toddler, Bea brings a fresh and new approach to folk-pop. Consider Fiona Apple mixed with Phoebe Bridgers and you’ll have some idea of her unique sound.
There's something quite intimate about the acoustic guitar and it's even better when it's safe in the hands of a talented singer/songwriter.
Bea certainly does the instrument justice in her latest single, "Sway." Combining the guitar with some heartfelt, forlorn strings, Bea makes no apologies for tugging very firmly at your heartstrings, retelling the story of an unfaithful partner in the most passive aggressive way possible.
It's a tried and tested formula, put to perfect use here - lure you in with the guitar, hook you with the strings and pin you down with the vocals. There's a sad story here, and you are going to hear it!
You'll be treated to some luscious vocals which only serve to tweak your already frayed emotions even further and reinforce the message. For the record, Bea has an amazing voice, with the ability to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end.
“Should my music connect with someone, or should my art form be relevant to others, that’s a huge plus,” says Bea. The video shows the story of the breakdown - we've all been there at some point.
My advice is to listen to "Sway" whilst cutting onions. You'll have a good excuse then.
