Time For A Round-Up!

Want to hear some great sounds that you may not have discovered yet? Here's a collection of music from the It's Indie Inbox for your listening pleasure!

Bang Bang Romeo - Love Yourself
Bang Bang Romeo - Image by Holly Rose Stones

Here's a great song to kick things off. Bang Bang Romeo released their debut album "A Heartbreakers Guide To The Galaxy" earlier this month and it's already flying high in the iTunes Top 40 album chart.

The band consist of Anastasia Walker, with her incredible voice that has to be heard to be believed, Ross Cameron (guitars) and Richard Gartland (drums).

"Love Yourself" is a thumping tune that brings Anastasia's formidable voice to the forefront but there's also a huge part of the song reserved for rapper Example (yes, THAT Example) - clearly high praise indeed!

Sex Cells - Modern Witchcraft

Now, strictly speaking, this isn't a "new" single. It's new to us, of course, but the song actually made its debut way back in May. Like everything that Sex Cells have recorded, "Modern Witchcraft" is something a little bit different - it's filled with electronic synth and strange lyrics that make you sit up and take notice.

Musically, we get a sniff of early Depeche Mode. Vocally, there's a whiff of Bowie. Visually, the video for this song, made up of a blend of live action and animation, you're treated to an insight of the world of Sex Cells

The Moods - Strong

Normally we don't do drum 'n' bass or hip-hop of course, but this one landed in our inbox and we felt it had such a strong (pun intended) message that we had to share it.

The Moods are a nine-piece collective of producers, poets and musicians from the Northwest of England. Combining drum & bass, reggae, hip-hop and EDM, The Moods’ mighty music sparks off a contagious need to dance, underpinned, with real grit & substance. They are a band with plenty to say, singing and rapping with raw passion about the important stuff like war, famine, love, life and death. This is music for the head & heart, “They will make you dance, and then they’ll make you think”.

Dollie Demi - Unknown
Dollie Demi

Dollie Demi are a 4 piece all girl band from Manchester that consists of Demi on vocals, Mia on Bass, Anna on Drums and Ella on guitar. The music is a mix genre of garage rock, pop and punk. They have a strong focus on sexual positivity and feminism within their music.

There's a little hint of Gwen Stefani in Demi's voice, but the similarity ends there. There are some impressive vocal acrobatics, all sitting nicely above the huge musical background delivered by the rest of the band. This is the all-female rock band we have been waiting for!

Sätilä - Like You Do

Finnish born, London based artist Sätilä (aka Teemu Sätilä) combines a fresh fusion of infectious alternative/indie music with rich pop soundscapes.

Bringing this little round-up to an enigmatic conclusion, "Like You Do" combines analogue synths with a kicking drum beat, all tied together with Sätilä's soaring vocal range. The song is all about telling yourself that you're someone special, realising that you have something great to offer and hopes to inspire you to take on the world with a renewed passion and self-confidence.

There's quite a buzz about Sätilä at the moment, he's attracting attention in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland and Canada and there's clearly more to come from this fella!
