Non Stop Erotic Cabaret #nSECmUSIC are Timmy Faith (TF) - Synth Monkey and Damo Devotion (DD) - Gobshite

Where are you based?

DD: Up in the Yorkshire Pennines, in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by trees, sheep, howling winds, and driving rain.

TF: We don’t live very far from each other, but we rarely meet, preferring to communicate via the internet, and though our music.

What genre would you describe yourself as?

TF: Synthpop.

DD: Pure and simple.

TF: Like us.

Who is your main inspiration?

TF: We have been influenced by everyone from Kraftwerk and Cabaret Voltaire to Daft Punk and The Weeknd, and anybody and everybody who has created music in between.

DD: Timmy is into really cool stuff like A Certain Ratio and New Order.

TF: Damo is more into pop stuff like OMD and Human League.

What is your song writing process?

TF: It all starts with an analogue synth bass sound, which then becomes a bass line, followed by the drums and the rest of the synth parts.

DD: After that come the words and melodies, and finally a sprinkling of magical musical pixie dust to make our tracks shine like beacons of light in the eternal darkness which constitutes the universe in which we live.

What made you want to start in music?

DD: After being DJs for many years, we realised we were struggling to find the kind of new music we liked to play out, so the next logical step was for us to create it.

TF: There has never been a time in our lives when music wasn’t a passion for us, so it really was only a matter of time before we started creating it for ourselves.

What is on the horizon for you?

TF: Connected (Available on all major platforms!) is our first single, and our future plans very much depend on how that performs, but we also have a second single, Mr. Moogie, all cued up and ready to go when the time is right.

DD: Once lockdown restrictions are but a distant memory, we would like to go back out into the world to DJ and play live at festivals around the world to share our music with the masses.

TF: We never stop creating, not just music, but art, film, photography and even our own synthesisers, so if you Google #nSECmUSIC, you can find all sorts of examples of the weird and wonderful things we have come up with.

DD: We are currently building a massive interactive robot to appear on stage with us, along with creating a whole new set of exciting multimedia visuals for when we next play live.

Who would you most like to collaborate with (alive or dead)?

DD: As far as artists go, Gary Numan was one of the pioneers of synthpop, and he is still producing new and innovative work to this day, so he would be an obvious choice.

TF: In terms of producers, we would love to work Trevor Horn, Dave Bascombe, Rusty Egan, and Daniel Miller, all of whom have produced some of our favourite tracks.

What is your ultimate goal?

DD: Complete and utter global domination of the music world.

TF: Failing that, we’d like at least one person in every village, town and city in every country around the world to have heard and enjoyed our music.

DD: We already have people listening to Connected not just all over Europe, but also in the U.S., Hong Kong, India and even the Caribbean and the Galapagos Islands - how cool is that?!

If you could cover any song, what would it be?

DD: A synthpop cover of Rhinestone Cowboy is well overdue.

TF: I’ll get on to it.

Tea making: milk first or last?

TF: Yorkshire teabag first.

DD: Yorkshire milk last.

Tell us your funniest joke!

DD: What do you call a Yorkshireman offering to get a round of drinks in? Honest Tod.

TF: You can probably see now why we rarely meet…
