Our 500th Feature... and it's something very special!

Those of you who see most of our articles will know that we paid tribute to the ten biggest influences on It's Indie And We Know It over the previous 499 features. And those of you who have followed us from the start may have realised a notable omission. Few people have heard of Rutland. It's one of the smallest counties in England, 18 miles North to South and 17 miles East to West - roughly the same size as the city of Sheffield. Rutland has only two towns - Oakham and Uppingham. But why the geography lesson, I hear you ask? If you were to take a trip to Oakham, it's highly likely you might bump into (socially distant, of course) one of these guys. These chaps are Ben and Josh - better know

499 Featured Artists... and counting!

It's Indie And We Know It began in November 2018 and was nothing like the site it is today. We started off by trying to get a couple of extra followers for some of the artists we liked - and here we are, still writing... but with a MUCH bigger pool of artists to choose from! 499 artist and song features later, we're about to pass a huge milestone we never expected to reach. We've seen some incredible songs along the way but some have achieved some very notable milestones for us. And we thought... what better way to celebrate than to bring you the 10 artists who have had a lasting impact on us here at It's Indie? Let's jump straight in! 10 Hayes & Y In November 2019, we stumbled upon Hayes &

Who is your main inspiration? We are both inspired by so many different things. A few of our biggest common inspira

New Music: Fireglow "Won't Forget You"

When we received the email from Fireglow asking us to review their "last" single, my heart sank. Regular readers will know that we love us a bit of Fireglow here at It's Indie Towers and so to read that it was this was their "last" single was a very sad moment. "Tell me it isn't true!" I pleaded with bass player Bruno. Thankfully, it was just a typo and it should have read "latest" single. Phew!! If you've not caught up with Fireglow before, they're a five piece rock 'n' roll band from Sydney, Australia, They met in 2018 but their sound is very much in the 60s and 70s era. We once described them as the kind of band where you could put your feet up with a nice, hot cuppa - and that is still a

Artist of the Day: Mark Eden

Since we began our Artist of the Day feature, we've "met" some really great artists and probed them with some really difficult questions! Todays artists is no exception, as we catch up with Mark Eden. Tell us about Mark Eden? I do everything on the recordings but live is something different of course. New Music: Lightning Reviews (Issue 8)

The great music keeps coming and July is already turning into a bumper month! Let's have a dive into some new tracks from some more great artists. New Language "Paranoid" If The Killers and Fall Out Boy had a baby, that baby would be "Paranoid" - the new single from New Language. It's a combination of pulsing indie pop verses and pounding pop punk choruses, resulting in an epic rock masterpiece. Our rating: 9.2/10 in earnest "come upstairs" You've no idea how long I've waited to share this one! I cannot put into words how good this song is. A simple acoustic guitar track, some delicate strings weaving between that and the absolutely immaculate vocals make "Come Upstairs" a beautiful, gentle,

Artist of the Day - Fanni Mayer

Today we take a trip to Budapest, Hungary to meet Fanni Mayer, our Artist of the Day What genre would you describe yourself as? Feminine power-pop Who would you say is your main inspiration? There are too many I guess. I grew up listening to those effortlessly divine divas like Whitney Houston, Nina Simone, Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand. Big feminine energy. I'm a true 90's kid. I was inspired by late 90's and early 2000's R'n'B, soul and pop music like Destiny's Child, The Fugees, TLC, Nelly Furtado, No Doubt etc. And I was a HUGE Spice Girls fan to be honest. My favorite was Sporty Spice. I put my fake tattoos on, crop top and everything and sang around the house like crazy. Our neighbours

New Music: Husk "Heal With Time"

We love a bit of pop music here at It's Indie Towers, and we can always rely on Husk to deliver the goods! We're getting used to being spoiled by Manchester's Husk who have mastered the art of 80's synth pop revival. We first discovered this pop powerhouse last year with the uber-catchy "Feeling Heat" and the equally amazing "Below The Neck" earlier this year and it's great to hear that the newest track to come from the Husk camp is continuing the tradition of forcing us to break out our hairbrush microphones and dancing around the living room. "Heal With Time" hits you with another incredible bass synth and Alfie delivers another massive vocal that fools you into believing that this is a ha

New Music: Seth Daniels "These Are The Times"

Artists everywhere are feeling the pain, after the coronavirus continues to have a stranglehold on the music industry. Perhaps feeling that pain a little more than most is Seth Daniels. Seth is used to the big stage after performing as Freddie Mercury as part of International Touring Queen Tribute Show “Majesty”, but now finds himself without a job. The effects of COVID-19 left a devastating impact on the careers of musicians around the world.  Overnight Seth went from one of the biggest touring artists in the UK to suddenly struggling to pay the bills. “One day we were performing at The O2 Southampton, the next it was all gone.  I sat there for weeks thinking, that’s it – it’s over!” says S
